Description
Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Release 2025 ?Grain & Embers? (114.8 Proof / 56.5% ABV) is a powerful, limited-edition Islay single malt that delivers Lagavulin in its purest, most intense form. Bottled at natural cask strength with no chill filtration, this release showcases the distillery?s signature smoky depth with added layers of richness.
Matured in a combination of refill casks and Pedro Xim?nez & Oloroso-seasoned European oak, it introduces a subtle sweetness and dried fruit complexity that enhances the classic peat-forward profile.
On the nose, it opens with smoldering peat, wood ash, and coastal sea air, layered with hints of citrus zest, vanilla, and soft dried fruit.
The palate is oily, bold, and full-bodied, revealing waves of intense peat smoke, brine, black pepper, and charred oak, balanced by notes of dark chocolate, raisins, and roasted coffee.
The finish is long, warming, and deeply smoky, with lingering salt, spice, and earthy peat that define Lagavulin?s unmistakable Islay character.
This 2025 release stands out for its high-proof intensity and refined sherry influence, making it a must-have for collectors and peat lovers seeking a richer, more layered Lagavulin 12.
Perfect for: sipping neat for full impact, or adding a few drops of water to unlock deeper layers of sweetness, spice, and maritime complexity.
