Macallan Classic Cut 2025 Edition is the ninth release in the distillery’s annual limited series, designed to showcase the impact of higher alcohol-by-volume (ABV) on flavor. This 2025 expression is bottled at 50.6% ABV (101.2 proof) and matured in a combination of sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks along with ex-bourbon barrels.
Tasting Profile and “Cuts”
According to The Macallan, this edition is designed to reveal different layers of character depending on the amount of water added (the “cut”):
At Full Strength (50.6%): Prominent notes of velvety milk chocolate and orange zest.
Reduced to 40%: Bright notes of grapefruit and creamy vanilla panna cotta emerge.
Reduced to 20%: A fresh, warming finish of apple and lemon zest is unveiled.
